Big things happening here with our little publishing company.
First up, best-selling author Larry Brooks' book "Whisper of the Seventh Thunder" is edited, the cover is nearly complete and the book is going out to major national reviewers with an early March release date. If you like Dan Brown, you will love this apocolyptic thriller.
We've also signed Mike Girard, singer of the legendary New England band "The Fools" to write a book about a band that went right to the edge of being huge in the eighties but never got that final push. They had tons of MTV play, played gigs all over the world and opened for bands like Van Halen and Rush. Those of you who are fans of "The Fools" know what a character Mike is and this is going to be a fun read.
"Thunder From Rain" our second release is out as well. If you like historical fiction about the Old West, you'll really enjoy this book. There are a few scenes in the book that will bring tears to your eyes.
Lloyd L. Corricelli did our first ever book signing in Lowell, MA for "Two Redheads & A Dead Blonde." The weather was absolutely terrible but Lloyd did okay for the first time out. His second book in the Ronan Marino Mystery Series "Chasing Curves" is due out in May. Look for another book signing sometime in the future.
If you are a writer, we areaccepting submissions. We have room for one or two more books in 2010. Please check out our web page at sonsoflibertypublishing.com for the types of books we're looking for. Email us a one page synopsis in the body of the email and if we're interested, we'll email back and ask for a few chapters.
As you can see, our web page has been greatly upgraded with even more improvements coming.
Things are moving faster than we could have ever imagined. Thanks to those of you who bought our books. Please tell your friends about us if you enjoyed what you read.
We'll be back for probably one final post before the end of the 2009. Have a great Thanksgiving!

The August Update
Wow, it's been an extremely busy month here at Sons of Liberty Publishing.
First of all, we're prepping our next release "Thunder from Rain" which is a fictionalized account of the Army's war on the peaceful Nez Perce Indian tribe. Hopefully we'll have that out by October at the latest.
Meanwhile there is big news brewing that we can't fully disclose but we are about to sign a former best selling author and release his next book, which we think is going to be huge.
We're also right on the cusp of signing a deal to publish the autobiography of a Grammy nominated eighties rock star. We can't say much more than that until the contract goes through.
On the "Two Redheads & A Dead Blonde" front, Lloyd is set to appear on local station WCAP in the near future to publicize the book as well as do a book signing in the Lowell area. We'll know dates and times really soon. Unfortunately, we haven't yet figured out how to effectively get the book into the hands of local homeboys Affleck, Damon and Wahlberg for consideration for a future film project.
So what does this all mean? We're growing in leaps and bounds and as a small independent publisher poised to make some big splashes in the publishing world.
Stay tuned because our next update will be huge!

Big news on the submission front, we've reshaped our goals as a publisher and are now looking for the following types of novels (directly from our website):
"We are primarily looking for fiction and non-fiction works that speak to the American Experience. Examples of the types of novels we're looking for are the pulp fiction mysteries in the tradition of Marlowe, the Old West dime store novels and the sweeping sagas of Michener."
So have you written the great American novel? Then why haven't you submitted it yet?
Meanwhile, we've chosen our second book to publish and plan on making the announcement within the next week. It's completely different from "Two Redheads & A Dead Blonde" but we think you'll like it, especially if you enjoy historical fiction.
Speaking of "2 Reds," the trade paperback should be for sale at Amazon.com within the next thirty days. These are exciting times here at Sons of Liberty Publishing!

Sons of Liberty Publishing is going traditional
Traditional publishing that is!
We're happy to announce that our plans to move into traditional publishing have been greatly expedited. Originally scheduled for 2010, "Two Redheads & A Dead Blonde" will now be available though Amazon.com as a trade paperback very soon. We're waiting for the proof from the publisher and if all is correct, the printer will be given the green light and it'll be for sale. Suggested retail price will be $15.99.
We're also going to do a book signing or two in the fall with Lloyd Corricelli somewhere in New England. More to come on that.
In addition, we've opened up our submission guidelines to accept authors outside New England. That should allow us to garner a wider variety of submissions and improve the overall works we publish.
Keep watching this blog space for more announcements, including the next book from Sons of Liberty Publishing.

Free Book Offer!
Welcome to Sons of Liberty Publishing's very first blog. We hope to use this blog as a way of interacting with readers and potential writers interested in working with the company. Here you'll find information on our upcoming releases and tips on writing. We may also occasionally throw some historical background on locations featured in our books as well as some updates as to what's happening in New England.
So what's up first for Sons of Liberty? Our first release, Lloyd L. Corricelli's "Two Redheads & A Dead Blonde" is now available as an e-book. Lloyd's second book in the Ronan Marino Mystery Series "Chasing Curves" is currently undergoing a rewrite and we hope to have it released before the end of 2009. In addition, we are currently accepting submissions from other authors that meet our guidelines.
We're taking this publishing thing somewhat slowly in an effort to make sure we don't go the way of so many other e-book publishers that have come and gone through the years. That means setting realistic goals for releases each year. For instance, we're shooting for two more releases this calendar year and five for 2010. We also hope to move into some traditional publishing in late 2010. Which book goes that route will depend on our overall sales.
So how are things going overall with the company? Not bad but somewhat slow much as we expected. E-books are a rapidly growing field (you gotta love Amazon's Kindle) but it's admittedly tough to get readers hooked on a new book series without a lot of the history or expensive advertising done by the big boys. That means word of mouth is huge for us.
That said, we're giving away free copies of "Two Redheads & A Dead Blonde" to the first five people who email us at publisher@sonsoflibertypublishing.com. All we're asking is for you to tell your friends about our first book. Seriously, we're not begging here but certainly could use your help to get the word out about not only that book but the company.
For any of you prospective authors out there, please visit our Sons of Liberty Publishing website and if your book falls into the category we're looking for, submit it for possible publication. One beautiful thing about the e-book business is a company can take a chance on a new author where a traditional publisher might not. That doesn't mean we'll compromise on quality however. We won't print anything that we don't thing is good just to load up our catalogue and push sales. That's one compomise that Sons of Liberty Publishing just isn't interested in making.
So please visit our website and this blog often for updates. We hope you''ll enjoy what you read from us.
Until next time.
